FAQs

What is APO?

Alpha Phi Omega is a national co-educational service organization founded on the principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service. It provides its members the opportunity to develop leadership skills as they volunteer on their campus, in their community, to the nation, and to the organization. With more than 400,000 members on over 375 campuses, Alpha Phi Omega continues to provide more service on more campuses than any other collegiate service organization.

What is required to join APO?

The first step in becoming a pledge in the Zeta Upsilon chapter of Alpha Phi Omega is to attend an info session. At these sessions, our pledgemasters will provide you with information about how the pledge process works and what is expected of you. We accept new members at the beginning of every semester, so check out our Instagram @apozu or email pledgemaster.buapo@gmail.com to find out when our next info sessions will take place!

What are the APO symbols?

Fraternity Flower: The Forget-Me-Not. A perennial flower with royal blue blossoms. It is everlasting, always remembered.

Fraternity Symbol: The Golden Eagle. This symbolizes strength, gracefulness, keenness of vision, and endurance.

Fraternity Jewel: The Diamond. The most precious of all gemstones representing brilliance, luster, always increasing in value, and an expression of the greatest gift of love when given.

Fraternity Tree: The Oak. This tree is stately, sturdy and sheltering.

Coat of Arms: The symbolism of the coat of arms stands for the very purpose of brotherhood.
